Carla Joseph

My name is Carla Joseph I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I maintain a comprehensive focus to care, including brief psychotherapy and prescribing mental health medications if indicated, for all ages. Overall I tend to be more conservative in my prescribing practices, especially in regards to prescribing controlled substances such as benzodiazepines or even stimulants.

I started my mental health career working as a psychiatric registered nurse twelve years ago in one of the largest correctional systems in the United States. Eventually, I then went on to complete my Masters in Science of Nursing Degree in psychiatric mental health. In addition, prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked in a variety of healthcare settings as a registered nurse including Adult and Pediatric Oncology, Surgery, and Infection Control Preventative.

My training experiences in a large metropolitan area have ignited a passion to provide access to affordable, quality mental health care no matter where a patient may be located. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I will offer a wide range of mental health treatment from complex trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD.

In my free time, you can find me at home working on a DIY project, or at a movie theater watching a new release. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.-Lao

Working collaboratively with psychotherapists and other health care professionals, as a provider, I craft a therapeutic holistic regime to help patients with their mental health concerns. Using current diagnostic guidelines and evidence-based treatment, I believe this individualized approach helps patients achieve their goals. I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience working with patients across the lifespan. Forming a trusting relationship with my patients is essential and can ensure a lasting change.
